Why: This survey is to inform the teacher on how students see them in class. It can be used to reflect on their teaching practices in order to improve for the future. There is value in sharing the data with students and soliciting feedback on how the teacher can improve.

What: The Student Perception Survey, a research-based, confidential and anonymous student survey to provide teachers with students’ feedback about their classroom experiences.

This survey is designed to measure students' perceptions on teaching and learning in a particular class by asking a range of questions that focus on the following five topics:

  • Pedagogical Effectiveness

  • Classroom Climate

  • Classroom Rigorous Expectations

  • Classroom Engagement

  • Classroom Teacher-Student Relationships

How: There are 6 main components to this.

  1. Administer Individual Student Reflection Survey

  2. Teacher Data Analysis 

  3. Reflective Conversation with Colleagues (PLC, Coach, etc.)

  4. Optional Classroom Reflection

  5. Next Steps/Shifts in Practice

  6. Administer Student Reflection Survey Again
