Group Exit Tickets
Curated by: Hong Ha Hoang
What
Exit tickets are a formative assessment tool that give teachers a way to assess how well students understand the material they are learning in class. This tool can be used daily or weekly, depending on the unit being taught. Group Exit Tickets are exit tickets done in a group!
Why
A good exit ticket can tell whether students have a superficial or in-depth understanding of the material. Teachers can then use this data for adapting instruction to meet students' needs the very next day.
Group exit tickets reduce the amount of anxiety students have and help students develop social skills by working as part of a team.
Group exit tickets make peer learning happen. Most students who have a firm grasp on a skill or concept are eager to share their knowledge with other students. Conversely, students who may be confused or less confident in their abilities may be hesitant to ask questions in front of the whole class.
Group exit tickets increase student engagement because instead of being accountable to just the teacher, students are accountable to each other.
How
There are 4 main components to this.

Purposefully create groups based - mix of students who can push and grow student thinking
