What

As in the TV show, The Iron Chef, this activity is structured to allow students to complete the task using limited resources and limited time.

Why

  1. Learn content using a semi-student-guided model

  2. Work in teams

  3. Practice presentation skills

How

There are 8 main components to this.

  1. The teacher prepares a slide deck,

  2. Each team captain opens their Iron Chef and shares it with the rest of their team.

  3. Each student will edit one of the four slides for his or her team.

  4. Once everyone is set up and ready, set a timer for 10 minutes

  5. Students research the content using the provided links and use the newly gained information to complete building out the slides. Students list 5 or more facts about the topic or question proposed on their slide, add an image, and complete the secret ingredient challenge. If time remains, they may then adjust slide layout and color.

  6. Students stop working with the timer rings

  7. Present their slides after time is up.

  8. Teacher and peers will score group presentation based on the rubric
