They will then learn relaxation skills to use so they can cope effectively with these feelings. Relaxation skills taught in this lesson are paced belly breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery. HOw was Your experience using this Resource?

Alina Enoiu - 3rd Grade Teacher

Izamary Rios - 2nd Grade Teacher

  • Squeeze and release can be challenging for lower elementary students to take seriously. I would focus on one body or maybe two body parts a day in order for students to see the effects of it.

  • Students enjoyed belly breathing, but truly loved visualizations. They were able to talk about how their body was feeling after visualization.

  • Incorporating belly breathing into different times of my classroom has had a big impact when it come to concentration and conflict resolution

Lynh Nguyen - Kindergarten Teacher

  • My students found belly breathing the most helpful relaxation technique

  • Students referred back to previous modules (i.e. managing thoughts, understanding emotions, etc.) and how relaxation techniques can help support them when they have negative feelings and/or  thoughts.

  • Students felt that the techniques helped them to focus not only their minds, but also their bodies
