Why: This is a classroom reset designed to promote positive relationships between teachers and students. By engaging students leaders to take on various classroom responsibilities, this alternative management system is a breath of fresh air for learners and teachers.

What: This reset is a classroom makeover. It would work with a class of students who have leadership potential and are eager to have more of a voice. This reset could make sense for middle school or high school students who are rebelling against being micromanaged, but who genuinely want to help class improve.

How: There are three main components to this reset-

  1. Community meeting to discuss what has been happening and goals, etc.

  2. A system of students leading their peers, through goal-setting and feedback (both positive and corrective).

  3. Shifted relationship between students and teacher.  Fewer consequences, more collaboration. Increased “joy” during lessons and relationship/community building.
